I love this! I use it to make a basic vegetable soup if i want something small, as a base for a beef/chicken noodle soup, or just to add it when i make instant ramen for more vegetables.
The flavor is pretty basic, but everyone has spices in their kitchen to spice it up.

    Pros:
    Cheap
    Versatile
    Easy to make

    Cons:
    Basic: Both flavor and nutrition
    Mostly Potatoes and Cabbage

This was the first time I’d ordered anything from this site. I wanted to check out their quality. I prepared a 1 cup serving. I didn’t add any spices. When I tasted the soup, I knew I’d be ordering more. I wish they had a bulk/case price. If they did, I’d be ordering at least 1case. Today, I chamber vacuumed the remaining product in one cup serving size at a 15 second vacuum. With what I made last night & what I put up today, I determined that one can will make 29 one cup servings. The instructions were super easy to understand. Total time to make 19 minutes (1 minute to get the one cup liquid cup out and filled with water; one minute to get the dry measuring 1/4 cup for the freeze dried product & filled; 1 minute to put the water & product in the pan & bring it to a boil. Reduce heat and wait/stir occasionally for 15 minutes. It’s not as fast as a microwave, but the flavor is worth the extra time.

  3. Precise Disarray

Weight is as expected. You do know that they use #10 cans as so most emergency suppliers. That means, NUMBER ten, not ten pound. The size is because it allows for continuity in storage, and allows for various volume amounts that also satisfy the weighted amounts (products are sold based on WEIGHT not volume, which means you can have a canister that appears half full, but it has the weight that is being sold). The #10 canisters are also reusable for other needs, and when still fully sealed will float and will take a lot of abuse all while maintaining integrity of the contents. I have not experienced these situations, but that is the idea across all emergency food. Next size up tends to be pails, then buckets, then simply multiples. Be smart.

I buy “emergency food” when it is on sale. That’s it. The whole point of prepping is to accumulate well before it is needed. I buy regular food and store it well, and only then do I add in “emergency” food. It is great that it is available, but it is fantastically expensive. Even if you dont do any real food preserving, so long as it is away from light and rats, it all will be fine for a long long time. But added assurance is with emergency branded food, and it takes the knowledge and work out of it. But even then, pay attention to prices and buy when the prices dip low. You can amass more food for your buck that way. If and only if you are in a bind (you were late to the prepping game), then yes by all means get what you can.

This vegetable stew is not something I plan to open any time soon (I dont think). I buy similar dried vegetable assortments and soup blends for a fraction of a price, and just double bag it before I toss it in a dark cupboard, or with more motivation/ambition I could repackage in mylar or an air tight container. They are all the same, more or less. Difference is with the types of vegetables. I like having different brands for this reason. I use it for quick soups (just need enough hot water to rehydrate), for crock pot meals for simply adding vegetables anytime to anything whether I have fresh on hand or not. Since I was able to get this on sale at nearly same price as my non-emergency veg soup/stew products, I decided to pick up a couple of canisters to tuck away. I took a look at the ingredients and liked the assortment of vegetables (inc potato). The calories being purchased looked good too.

My canisters look good, no dents. I would not have been too concerned with mild dents anyway.

A decent blend of veggies to add to all your meals. Once its open, it is good for around a year. The veggies have a VERY strong flavor to them, which speaks well of the company’s quality practices, and how fresh the veggies were when they were prepared and sealed. Like it well enough I am considering getting some for all of my family around the holidays for disaster prep. I caution against using too much in a recipe (unless you are making veggie stock or veggie soup) because the Flavor is strong enough it can, and will overpower your other ingredients. I tend to add it to ramen, and soups, although I did try grinding it up into a powder and using it as a seasoning, which actually worked remarkably well on several dishes, I am just not sure it was worth how much effort it took to grind it up. All cards down, this stuff is great, and convinced me to buy several of their other products. Very impressed. Seriously. VERY impressed.
